This Privacy Policy explains how RemindMe (the iPhone app listed on the App Store as “Remind me: Sticky Note Widget”) and this website handle information. RemindMe is developed and published by Jiun Shin, an independent developer (“we”, “us”). If you have a question, email jiun@tryremind.me.
The short version
- There’s no account. You never give us your name, email or password to use RemindMe.
- Your notes, checklists, reminders, labels and templates are stored on your iPhone. We don’t have a server that receives them, and they aren’t synced to iCloud.
- We use Google’s Firebase Analytics to see how features are used, in a way that isn’t tied to who you are. It never receives the text of your notes, checklists or reminders.
- Payments are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether your subscription is active.
- We don’t sell your data, show ads, or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.
1. Information stored on your device
When you use RemindMe, the following is saved locally on your iPhone, inside the app’s private storage (shared only with RemindMe’s own widgets):
- notes, checklists and their items, including completion status;
- reminders, their times and repeat settings;
- labels, templates and your note history;
- settings such as your theme, and your answers to the optional onboarding questions.
This information never leaves your device through RemindMe, and we can’t see it. Your device’s own backups (for example an iCloud or computer backup you have turned on) may include it, under Apple’s terms. Deleting RemindMe deletes this information.
2. Usage analytics (Firebase Analytics)
To understand which features are used and where people get stuck, the app sends usage events to Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google. Examples of events are “note pinned”, “reminder created” or “theme changed”. Events can include details such as:
- the type of note (memo or checklist), how many items a checklist has, and how many characters a note has — never the text itself;
- reminder repeat interval, theme name, and whether a label was used;
- the name you give a template when you create or edit one;
- your answers to the optional onboarding questions (for example, what you most want help remembering);
- subscription events, such as viewing the paywall, starting a trial, purchasing or restoring, and error codes if something fails.
Firebase also collects standard technical information automatically: an app-instance identifier generated by Firebase, device model, iOS version, app version, language, approximate country or region (derived from your IP address), and when the app was first opened and used. RemindMe doesn’t use the advertising identifier (IDFA) and doesn’t link this information to your name, email or Apple ID. Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in our Google Analytics settings and then deleted automatically. Learn more in Google’s Privacy Policy.
3. Purchases and subscriptions (Apple and RevenueCat)
All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We never receive your payment card details, name or billing address. To unlock RemindMe Pro and let you restore purchases, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier it generates, your App Store purchase and transaction information, your subscription status, and basic device and app information (such as iOS version, app version, country and IP address). Learn more in RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
4. Notifications and Live Activities
Reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your iPhone, and Lock Screen notes are shown as Live Activities by iOS. Neither uses push servers, so the content of your reminders and notes is not sent to us or to anyone else.
5. How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- provide the app’s features and unlock the subscription you paid for;
- understand how RemindMe is used, fix problems and decide what to improve;
- answer you when you contact us.
We don’t sell personal information, we don’t show ads, and we don’t use your information for advertising of any kind.
6. Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers named above (Google for Firebase Analytics, RevenueCat, and Apple), who process it on our behalf to provide their services, and when we are required to by law. These providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. If you email us
If you contact support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to improve the app, and we delete support emails when they are no longer needed.
8. Your choices and rights
- Delete your data: deleting RemindMe removes everything stored on your device.
- Notifications and Live Activities: you can turn them off anytime in Settings → RemindMe.
- Your rights: depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal information, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. Because analytics data isn’t linked to your identity, we may need you to help us identify it. To make a request, email jiun@tryremind.me. We won’t discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
- Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in running and improving the app for analytics, and on the performance of our contract with you for purchases and subscriptions.
9. Children
RemindMe isn’t directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. This website
This website doesn’t use cookies or advertising trackers. If we enable website analytics, we use a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that only reports aggregate statistics such as page views. Our hosting provider may log technical information such as IP addresses for a short time to keep the site secure and running.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, give notice in the app or on this website.
